DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Two Michigan State Police cruisers are in the shop after being damaged in separate crashes on Friday night.

The first crash involved a Michigan State Police sergeant’s vehicle as he completed a traffic stop. A driver lost control and swerved to avoid a rear-end crash, but collided with the back of the patrol car. The trooper was treated for minor injuries at a hospital; the driver was cited for the crash.

Also that night, a trooper responded to a request for back-up for a large fight near Romulus. A vehicle crossed over the double yellow lines and side-swiped the parked patrol car. Police said the 17-year-old driver was distracted by passengers in her car prior to the crash.

No one was hurt in the crash, and police cited the at-fault driver.
