LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Tuesday marks primary election day in Michigan and polls are open until 8:00 p.m.
Eligible Michigan residents can still register to vote in person on election day at their city or township clerk’s office with proof of residency. In addition, they can cast a ballot right after they’ve registered.

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said absentee voters should return their ballots to an official ballot drop box in their jurisdiction or hand deliver it to their local clerk’s office.
With the exception of military and overseas absentee voters, all absentee ballots must be received by clerk’s offices or drop boxes by 8 p.m. on Election Day or they will not be counted. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D) is running for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat and posted a message on social media.
Dr. Sherry O’Donnell is running against former Representatives Justin Amash and Mike Rogers for the GOP nomination. She also posted on X.

Michigan’s Department of State reports a lower number of absentee ballots returned one day before election day this year compared to the same time period four years ago. The data says 970,041 absentee ballots have been returned so far compared to 1,288,025 in August 2020.
