ALLEGAN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – An international medical products company whose North American base is in Allegan is voluntarily recalling a baby formula.

The company Perrigo is recalling more than 16,000 cans of Premium Infant Formula sold at Michigan CVS stores. Officials found elevated levels of Vitamin D in a batch of the formula. In a statement, Perrigo said “the vast majority of infants” would not be affected by “short-term consumption,” but a small number of “vulnerable infants” could experience health complications.

In addition, the statement said parents of infants showing symptoms should report them to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online.

Perrigo shipped the recalled product to CVS stores in the following states: Michigan, California, Florida, Indiana, , Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. The impacted products include cans shipped to CVS starting Feb. 6, 2024, with a use-by date of Nov. 11, 2025, and a UPC code: 050428318034.
