DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Detroit exploded for 15 runs on Tuesday, allowing only one Mariner to score for their 57th win of the year. The biggest story is Kerry Carpenter coming off the injured list after almost three months. Carpenter was 3-for-5 with three RBI and two home runs, igniting the Tigers’ offense.

Carpenter said, “Just kind of playing at my full potential is my goal. Whatever that may be is whatever it is the rest of the year. I think I was pretty close to my full potential before I went on the IL.”

The Tigers’ offense was led by Jake Rogers, who had seven RBI, becoming the first Tiger to reach that feat in 17 years.

Tarik Skubal earned his 14th win of the year, which leads the MLB. He struck out nine batters and now has an MLB-leading 180 strikeouts.

Skubal said after the game, “We have really missed (Carpenter) – he has a special bat.”

The two teams will meet again on Wednesday at 6:40 p.m. in Detroit.
