LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The American Red Cross is reporting a critical emergency blood shortage, with the nation’s supply dropping by more than 25% since July 1.

This significant decrease has caused shortages in Michigan and nationwide, with some blood products being sent to hospitals faster than they are being donated. Intense heat waves disrupted nearly 100 blood drives. Combined with summertime events and vacations, the Red Cross saw a shortfall of more than 19,000 donations last month.
