LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Governor Whitmer, Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist, and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson are away from the state, according to an administration press release. That’s why Michigan Attorney General served as acting governor on Thursday and signed Senate Bill 602 into law.

The Michigan Constitution allows the Attorney General to be acting governor and sign legislation if the three others are out of state. Recently, Whitmer has been on her book tour.

The legislation signed by Nessel amends the Occupational Code to specify conditions under which a right-to-list home sale agreement between a residential property owner and a real estate broker would be void and unenforceable.

In addition, real estate brokers who enter into void and unenforceable agreements can have their license revoked, face fines, and receive probation.
