WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Gary Peters (D-MI) is one of the names being floated around as a possible vice presidential pick for presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
Peters, Michigan’s junior senator alongside retiring U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, did little to dissuade reporters on Tuesday regarding those murmurings.

Axios reported on Peters being a possible veep pick on Monday, suggesting he could emerge as a “dark horse.”
Harris picking Peters would make sense considering Michigan’s 15 electoral votes and its status as a swing state. Former President Donald Trump has been reaching out to union workers to earn their vote. The United Auto Workers Union (UAW) initially backed President Joe Biden.
Michigan News Source reached out to Senator Peters and the Michigan Democratic Party for a comment. They did not respond by press time.
Harris is planning to visit Detroit next week along with her yet-to-be-named vice president. She’s expected to name her pick next week.
