DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Bryce Rainer is an official Detroit Tiger. After being drafted on Sunday, July 14, as the 11th overall pick, Rainer signed on Monday from over $5 million.

As the 11th pick, he signed on with a bonus for $5,797,500 million and will forgo his commitment to play for the University of Texas. He is a shortstop from Harvard-Westlake High School in California. The left-hander hit .505 his senior season with four home runs and 17 stolen bases and was the second high school player taken in the draft behind Konnor Griffin from Mississippi.

He is being compared to Texas Rangers’ Corey Seager and says, “I think it’s pretty cool (to be compared to him). To be compared to arguably one of the best players in Major League Baseball right now, I think that’s awesome. But at the same time, I try to be my own unique self. At the end of the day, we’re different people.”
