MELVINDALE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A police officer in Wayne County died after being fatally shot on Sunday morning and police are still looking for the suspect they say killed him.
Melvindale police officer Mohamed Said was shot at 11:39 a.m. Sunday in the 17000 block of Clarann Street in Melvindale while responding to a call. Details of the shooting have not been released.

Police say the suspect, 44-year-old Michael Lopez is still large. He is considered to be armed and dangerous. Lopez was last seen wearing black pants, no shirt and riding a bicycle. He has several tattoos and a goatee.
This is the third police officer death in Michigan in the past month. Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputy Brad Reckling died on June 22 in what officials describe as an “ambush.” Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Deputy Bill Butler died on June 27 when a traffic stop lead to a confrontation.
