LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan drivers should start looking ahead to safely driving during the winter months. A new law will require drivers to give more room to snowplows starting this year.
Governor Whitmer signed a bill requiring drivers to keep their vehicles at least 200-feet from an active plow.

Van Buren County Road Commission managing director Bret Witkowski says 200-feet is about 13 car lengths. He said the distance can close quickly if a snowplow is only going 20 to 30-miles-an-hour.
In addition, it is illegal to drive within 20 feet of a stopped snowplow at an intersection.
