Grand Rapids, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – First Lady Jill Biden plans to visit Grand Rapids and Traverse City this week just days after her husband’s disastrous debate performance and speculation among his own party and the media that he’s mentally unfit for office.
On Tuesday afternoon, Biden will fly into Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids. The Office of the First Lady said she will visit Middleville on Wednesday. She will participate in an event to highlight the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s summer nutrition programs for children; in addition, she will visit a Hidden Helpers summer camp. The stop is part of her “Joining Forces” initiative which recognizes and supports military-connected children of wounded, ill or injured service members or veterans.

Later on Wednesday, Biden will stop by a community event in Traverse City.
While Michigan may be considered a “purple” or swing state among many in the political arena, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer apparently isn’t one of them anymore. Politico reported on Monday that sources close to the Michigan Governor reveal that Whitmer told Biden’s campaign that his hopes of winning Michigan’s 15 electoral votes are over after his abysmal performance at last week’s debate. Whitmer is the cochair of Biden’s reelection campaign.
