INDIANAPOLIS (Michigan News Source) – Olympic trials for swimming started on June 15 in Indianapolis, Ind., and the first event was the 100-meter butterfly. Dewitt native Jordyn Shipps was in the first event of the Olympic Trials that started at 11:00 a.m.
Shipps was in the third heat of 10 preliminaries with seven other competitors competing against swimmers from Alabama, Florida, Louisville, Texas A&M, and Auburn. Her time of 59.99 placed her in the seventh lane of the heat as all eight swimmers were just 0.04 to 0.01 seconds separated.

Finishing with a 1:01.10, Shipps finished in 66th place out of 76 competitors. Gretchen Walsh won the event with a time of 55.94.
Entering her fourth season of competition at Oakland, Shipps helped the Grizzlies to the 2024 Horizon League Championship winning the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 1:58.58. This past season also brought her two academic awards as she was the Horizon League Winter Scholar-Athlete winner and also a College Sports Communicator Academic All-District selection.
