DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Starting Friday night in Las Vegas, the Detroit Red Wings will have eight picks to add to their roster. The Red Wings just missed the NHL playoffs improving their record to 41-32 which was a six-game improvement from the 2022-23 season.

The Red Wings have a pick in rounds one through six and two picks in round seven. They will pick 15th on Friday night as the NHL Draft starts at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN.

General Manager Steve Yzerman says, “I’m fully expecting to get a very good prospect, and I’m hopeful that prospect turns into a very good player one day. So you know what, we feel good.”

It is rumored that Yzerman may make trades and cap space for veteran NHL players. He would like to bolster the goalie area.
