LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Primary election season gets underway in Michigan on Thursday as in person absentee voting kicks things off. It comes 40 days before the Aug. 6 primary.

Applications for absentee ballots are due to your clerk’s office by 5 p.m. the Friday before the election. They can be returned by mail or in person. You can also request your ballot in person at your clerk’s office.

Once your ballot is filled out, drop if off at a ballot drop box near you or your clerk’s office.

Michigan voters can also cast their ballot in person up to nine days in advance of election day. Click here for available precincts.

The timing of in person absentee voting coincides with Thursday night’s first presidential debate of the season. President Joe Biden (D) and former President Donald Trump (R) will take the debate stage in Atlanta at 9:00 p.m. It will air on CNN.
