LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Biden campaign isn’t taking any chances when it comes to winning reelection this November, or walking away with Michigan’s 15 electoral votes.
The first debate between President Joe Biden and GOP former President Donald Trump will take place on Thursday in Atlanta, and the Democratic camp has scheduled pre-debate events in Michigan leading up to it.

The Biden campaign is slated to host 25 debate watch parties statewide, including gatherings in Grand Rapids, Detroit and Oakland County.
On Monday, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow and other leaders marked the second anniversary of Roe v. Wade being overturned with events in Flint and Clawson. Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson also made an appearance.
On Tuesday, several Wayne County politicians will headline a press conference in Detroit that will highlight former President Donald Trump and what they say is his threat to democracy, according to the Biden-Harris campaign
On Wednesday, small business owners in Lansing have a roundtable discussion with Mayor Andy Schor to discuss Biden’s efforts to support small business growth. In Detroit, Mayor Mike Duggan will meet with union leaders and members to promote Biden’s pro-union record.
Michigan News Source reached out to the head of the Michigan GOP, Pete Hoekstra, and asked him what events the Republicans had scheduled to combat their opponents. He did not respond by press time.
Michigan Republicans are mired in court cases and internal fighting and appear too distracted to work on electing people in their own party. Ex-GOP Chair Kristina Karamo is asking the state Court of Appeals to reinstall her as chairwoman of the Michigan GOP after being ousted in February.

The Republicans will host their party convention in Milwaukee from July 15-18. The Democrats’ convention will be held in Chicago on Aug. 19-22.
Michigan primary election is Tuesday, Aug. 6. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 5.
