GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – An illegal immigrant accused of murdering his girlfriend and leaving her body along US-131 in March will head to trial.
A judge found enough evidence to send 25-year-old Brandon Ortiz-Vite to trial on charges of felony murder, open murder, carjacking, carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearm in the murder of 25-year-old Ruby Garcia.

Ortiz-Vite is a citizen of Mexico.
Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker said the couple were sitting in a car together discussing their relationship when Ortiz-Vite shot and killed Garcia. In addition, Ortiz-Vite is accused of dumping Garcia’s body along US-131 before abandoning her car in South Haven.
A trial date has not been set.
