DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Alexander Morris, the lead singer of The Four Tops, has filed a lawsuit against Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren.

Morris alleges that in April 2023, he was battered by staff members and racially discriminated against while seeking help for a breathing issue. He was subsequently diagnosed with a serious heart condition and pneumonia and suffered three seizures while in the hospital.

The hospital has stated that its “top priority” is the health and safety of patients, but it cannot provide details on cases under investigation. According to the lawsuit, hospital staff did not believe Morris was a member of The Four Tops and placed him in restraints, ordering a psychological evaluation.

Staff only changed their stance after Morris’s wife arrived and confirmed his identity. Morris claims he was offered a $25 gift card as an apology, which he declined. He is seeking more than $75,000 in damages.
