DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – An illegal drug that can cause damage to blood vessels and other issues has been found by the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department Drug Task Force.
A synthetic form of morphine called “Crocodil” is ten times more potent than morphine. Officials say the drug is being used by some because it is cheaper than heroin but has a powerful narcotic effect.

Long term use of the drug can cause a person’s skin to turn a shade of green and become scaly and increases the risk of blood clots and blocked veins. There is no accepted medical use of the drug in the U.S. Krokodil first emerged in Russia in the early 2000s and quickly spread to other parts of the world.
