LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Bills to protect people against ticket buying bots has passed a state House committee and will be considered by the full House.
The legislation is known as the “Taylor Swift bills” after the bots snatched up tickets to her Eras Tour stop in Detroit last year and drove up the resale prices.

Fines of up to $5,000 for every ticket purchased are included in the legislation. State Representative Mike McFall (D-Hazel Park) says there is a federal law against the practice. However, he says the federal government is not taking any action and that’s the reason for the bipartisan legislation’s introduction.
