LIVONIA, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The community is rallying about a Livonia family who suffered a tragedy on Wednesday when a tornado ripped through the area, causing a tree to crash onto a house and kill a toddler.

The EF1 tornado killed 3-year-old Cooper Drake and critically injured his mother, Corinne, who is recovering in the hospital. Cooper”s two-week-old sibling was in the home as well but survived.

Two online fundraisers for the family raised more than $300,000.

The Livonia Kids and Families Foundation and the Livonia Firefighters Union have each committed $5,000 for funeral expenses. The Livonia First Responders foundation is also accepting donations on the family’s behalf.
