LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Webby Awards are given out for “excellence on the internet” and the people selecting those winners thought Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s 2023 Barbie social media schtick made a difference.
On Monday night in New York City, Governor Whitmer accepted the 2024 Webby Award for Public Service & Activism award for the “Governor Barbie” digital campaign. The award presenter called last summer’s Barbie campaign “timely and flat out funny.”

In her acceptance speech, Gov. Whitmer fell back on her normal vernacular of swear words by saying, “Wear pink. Get shit done.”

Meanwhile, Gov. Whitmer has seen some of her pet projects go to the wayside in her bloated 2024-25 proposed budget. She’s working with the legislature to finalize those numbers by July.
