The First Lady’s visit will culminate in Detroit before heading to New York. This marks her second visit to Michigan in less than a month, following her participation in the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation’s annual First Ladies Luncheon in Grand Rapids on April 26.

Michigan has seen a flurry of activity from the Biden-Harris campaign. On March 1, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and community leaders launched the state’s Women for Biden-Harris group in Detroit. Vice President Kamala Harris has also been active in the state, promoting the administration’s support for small businesses and reproductive rights.

President Biden’s upcoming visit will feature a keynote address at the NAACP Detroit Branch’s 69th annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner on May 19. One of the region’s largest social gatherings, this event draws nearly 10,000 guests and features influential voices from civil rights, faith, and political spheres.

Jill Biden’s visit aims to galvanize Michigan voters around key issues such as affordable health care and to highlight the administration’s investments in local communities.

Michigan, a crucial battleground state, is expected to play a decisive role in the 2024 election.
