LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Michigan News Source) – The 15th 20-win season for the University of Michigan women’s basketball team came to a close in overtime of the NCAA Tournament as no. 8 seed Kansas came back for an overtime win, 81-72. Michigan was up by 10 with 6:01 left in the fourth quarter, 60-50, but Kansas finished the quarter on a 17-7 run to send the game to overtime.
Kansas scored the first five points of overtime and never looked back. Michigan was within three points, twice, with the final one at 1:17, 75-72. Kansas missed a jumper with 44 seconds left and grabbed the offensive rebound and then scored 20 seconds later for a six-point lead on an and-one, 78-72. In the final 19 seconds, Kansas went 3-of-4 from the line for the nine-point win.

Cameron Williams led the team with 18 points shooting 50 percent from the floor. Laila Phelia added 16 points and Lauren Hansen 13 points.
This was the sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance for Michigan as they were a no. 9 seed this season.
