WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – Former President Donald Trump has endorsed GOP contender Mike Rogers in the race for U.S. Senate.

The endorsement is significant as Rogers has been a past critic of Trump.

Michigan’s Senate seat, which has a growing GOP field including former Congressmen Justin Amash and Peter Meijer, is expected to be one of the most important of the 2024 election. Democrats currently hold a 51-49 majority in the U.S. Senate and Michigan is considered a swing state.

A Republican hasn’t won a U.S. Senate race in Michigan since 1994.

Rep. Elissa Slotkin, who boasts a powerful campaign war chest, is running on the Democratic side of the ticket.
