GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A boil water advisory that impacted 20,000 residents, businesses, and schools in Grand Rapids for three days is over as of Wednesday afternoon.
The city announced the lifted advisory after a second round of testing revealed nothing dangerous in the water. The system has been flushed.

Even though residents no longer have to boil water before consuming it, the city recommends flushing plumbing, pipes and faucets beforehand. Owners should unscrew and remove faucet screens and aerators and clean out any particles, then reattach when the process has been completed.
In addition, run cold water through faucets and appliances with direct water connections for five minutes or more; run hot water only through all faucets and flush until the water is cool. This helps clear hot water pipes and water heaters of any untreated water.
