WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – A Democratic Party platform continues to promote “reproductive freedom” and abortion rights as key issues which party insiders claim will help turn more seats blue up and down the ballot.

Now, former president and GOP frontrunner Donald Trump appears to be making it a ballot issue as well by supporting a 16-week pro-life law.

A recent New York Times article reported that Trump “told advisers and allies that he likes the idea of a 16-week national abortion ban with three exceptions, in cases of rape or incest, or to save the life of the mother.”

This middle-of-the-road position has garnered support from Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “We strongly agree with President Trump on protecting babies from abortion violence at 16 weeks when they feel pain,” she said. “A majority of Americans support this compassionate position.”

Democrats, like Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, said President Joe Biden needs to talk about abortion more and keep it in the forefront of voters’ minds. Many have claimed Republicans would ban abortions nationwide if elected.

However, the 2022 Dobbs U.S. Supreme Court decision did not ban the procedure. It returned abortion regulations to individual states.
