ST. IGNACE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Canadian-based Enbridge Energy plans to lay off 650 workers next month after selling some of its holdings for $3.1 billion in December.
Enbridge spokesperson Ryan Duffy said, “While we delivered strong financial performance in 2023, cost reduction measures are necessary to maintain our financial strength, be more cost competitive and enable us to grow.”

Duffy said he had no specifics on whether the layoffs would include Michigan-based employees and said the safety of Line 5 would not be affected. The company is continuing to move forward with its $500 million Great Lakes Tunnel Project.
Duffy said Enbridge employs around 12,000 people.
