DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – The city of Detroit is filing a federal lawsuit over the price of insulin along with Macomb, Monroe, Wayne, and Washtenaw counties.

One in every six Detroiters has diabetes, and attorney Melvin Butch Hollowell says the price of insulin has risen 1,500% in the last 20 years.

The lawsuit accused the largest drug manufacturers in the world of partnering with pharmacy management companies to artificially inflate the price of the drug.

Hollowell is seeking injunctive relief and damages to account for the millions of dollars overspent.
