DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – The holiday travel season is here and many are getting ready to make the trip home.
Traveling can also bring turbulence and bottlenecks, depending on how you plan to get home. Storm systems on the east and west coasts could delay or cancel flights.

Holiday travel will peak on Thursday with close to 49,000 forecasted flights. Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) is bracing for the 1.5 million passengers scheduled to fly through DTW from now through January 1. That’s a 10% increase in the number of passengers from last year.
Airline officials want to remind travelers to not bring wrapped gifts through security because they’ll have to be unwrapped. Check with the airline for updates on delays or cancellations.
For those on the ground, AAA predicts 3.6 million Michiganders will drive 50 miles or more between December 23 and January 1.
