SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A freighter ran aground in the Upper Peninsula and brought shipping through the Soo Locks to a halt over Christmas weekend.

The Capt. Henry Jackman Bulk Carrier lost power on Saturday afternoon while maneuvering through a thin area of the St. Mary’s River in dense fog. The crew laid anchor and waited. Officials closed the St. Mary’s River traffic due to the stopped ship.
