FRASER, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Former Fraser City IT Director Michele Kwiatkowski pled guilty to embezzlement of more than $100,000.
From January 2016 through 2020, Kwiatkowski used the City of Fraser’s American Express card for personal purchases, prosecutors allege.

The crime is a 20-year felony, which could be reduced to a ten-year felony if Kwiatkowski pays restitution within 11 months of sentencing and complies with other court-ordered conditions. The City of Fraser has also requested that her pension be forfeited.
“When those entrusted with the public trust exploit their authority for personal benefit, they betray the very public they are meant to serve,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Acknowledging guilt and pledging restitution is a crucial stride towards atonement.”
Kwiatkowski’s attorney told the Detroit Free Press that she was cooperating with the Prosecutor’s Office to resolve the case.
Kwiatkowski is currently out on bond and is scheduled for sentencing on Feb. 6.
