DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Law enforcement is warning drivers across Michigan to follow all traffic laws when around school buses, or risk getting a ticket and hefty fine.
Increased patrols will be out on the roads this week for School Bus Safety Week. In October 2021, two new laws went into effect to help keep children safe on the school bus.

The first makes it easier to ticket drivers who blow through the extended stop arm on school busses. Under the law, exterior cameras make it easy to catch drivers disobeying the bus signals. The second law states that people cannot walk onto a school bus without permission, and there are no trespassing signs on the door of the bus.
Both offenses carry a fine of up to $500.
