DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Carpool lanes are coming to an interstate near you. Starting Monday, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close portions of I-75 near Detroit in preparation of Michigan’s first high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes.

The new HOV lanes will use the left lane in each direction between 12 Mile Road and South Boulevard.  They will operate during peak hours, Monday through Friday, where during those times vehicles must have at least two people to legally use the lanes.
