SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan State Police (MSP) troopers are continuing to look for an at large suspect they say shot a rifle at police cruisers and set multiple cruisers on fire early Wednesday morning at the Sault Ste. Marie post.

MSP officials in Sault Ste. Marie reported that around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday that the suspect set multiple cruisers ablaze at the post, although no officers were in the cruisers during that time. Troopers say the suspect then fired several rounds from a rifle.

The suspect was wearing full camouflage clothing and driving a sliver Honda CRV.  He is still at large and considered armed and dangerous.

As of 9 a.m. Wednesday morning, local schools had gone into lockdown with police presence at the schools. Classes continued as normal.

In addition, police are reaching out to anyone in the area between 3 Mile Road and M-80 on M-129 who may have home surveillance cameras. Officials are asking them to check activity from 3:15am and into the morning for any suspicious activity or the suspect vehicle (Silver Honda CRV).
