LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Those who indulge in eating Toll House Cookies should pay extra attention to the labeling dates after the company had a massive recall on chocolate chip cookie dough products.

“This voluntary recall is isolated to two batches of NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough “break and bake” Bar products that were produced on April 24 and 25, 2023,” according to Nestlé USA officials.

The recall was issued after reports of alleged wood fragments were found in the product.

“Consumers who have purchased NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bar (16.5 oz) with batch codes 311457531K and 311557534K should not prepare or consume the product and should return the product to the retailer where it was purchased for a replacement or refund,” Nestlé USA officials added.

The Toll House Cookie finds its origin in the mid-twentieth century when restaurant manager Ruth Wakefield published her ‘Toll House Crunch Cookie’ recipe in a Boston newspaper according to the company.

“As a leader in baking for more than 80 years, Ruth’s innovative spirit continues to drive Nestlé Toll House today,” Nestlé officials said, “With a strong focus on new product innovations, the iconic brand is constantly expanding its offering to meet the changing demands of the modern baker.”

The announcement was made early August and Nestlé officials said they are working with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) on the voluntary recall offering full cooperation.

“We are confident that this is an isolated issue and we have taken action to address,” the company said.
