LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A supporter of the anti-government “Boogaloo” movement was sentenced to 12 months in prison after pleading guilty to being a drug user illegally in possession of firearms and ammunition, and making a false statement about the acquisition of a firearm.
Twenty-three-year-old Timothy Allen Teagan was sent to prison after pleading guilty in April.

The Boogaloo movement formed in 2019, taking its name from a joke referencing the film Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo, in which characters struggle to prevent the demolition of a community recreation center by a shopping mall developer. According to the Anti-Defamation League, Boogaloo supporters have coalesced around several anti-state, anti-authoritarian, and anti-police philosophies, and they’re associated with political philosophies such as libertarianism and anarcho-capitalism. They believe a civil war is coming, which they call the “Boogaloo.”
In 2022, Teagen applied to purchase a Glock 34 9-millimeter pistol. He checked “no” to a question regarding drug use. At the time, he was a frequent and habitual user of marijuana, which should have prevented him from receiving the firearm. He subsequently purchased the pistol. Teagan also possessed a semi-automatic rifle and ammunition, which he also purchased illegally while using marijuana.
FBI agents who raided Teagan’s residence found Level IV body armor, gas masks, firearm magazines, and Boogaloo movement flags and patches.
“Our office stands ready to aggressively prosecute those who seek to circumvent federal firearms laws intended to protect our community,” said U.S. Attorney Dawn Ison.
