DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Coming into a tight situation for the American League on Tuesday night of the MLB All-Star game, Detroit’s Michael Lorenzen delivered. The AL was up, 2-1, at the time he entered in the top of the seventh inning with one out.
Lorenzen came in relief of Toronto’s Jordan Romano when he left the game due to back tightness on a 1-1 count against Arizona’s Lourdes Gurriel, Jr. A single was given up to Gurriel, Jr. followed by a walk. Lorenzen then recovered with a popup to Padres’ Juan Soto and then ended the inning striking out the Met’s Pete Alonso.

He put the AL in a good situation getting them out of a jam. In the eighth, though, Baltimore’s Felix Bautista gave up two earned runs as the AL lost the game for the first time since 2012, 3-2.
Detroit will start the second half of the 2023 season on Friday in Seattle at 10:10 p.m.
