ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Losing Hunter Dickinson to the transfer portal earlier this spring, Michigan head coach Juwan Howard went after players to help rebuild his team. He has now added three graduate transfers for the 2023-24 season. Howard has add Alabama’s Nimari Burnett, Tennessee’s Olivier Nkamhoua, and Seton Hall’s Tray Jackson.
Burnett, a Chicago native, is a 6-4 guard who hooped at Prolifica Prep in Napa, Calif., where he was a Class of 2020 consensus top-40 player and five-star recruit. He started his career at Texas Tech, missed the 2021-22 season due to injury, and landed at Alabama. He played in 27 games this year for the NCAA Tournament’s no.1 seed going 31-6 on the year. He finished the year averaging 5.6 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.

Howard says, “I have watched and gotten to know Nimari for several years. He has the ‘feel’ for the game that is just unique. This is why he has continued to excel on both ends of the floor. We also love his length, toughness and passion for the game. Niamari’s work ethic and leadership is off the charts. We can’t wait for him to get here.”
Nkamhoua is a 6-9 forward that is a Finland native coming to Ann Arbor from Tennessee. The last four seasons came under Rick Barnes where he played 112 games with 58 starts posting 27 double-figure games. He had 733 career points averaging 6.5 per game adding 330 career rebounds. He started all 36 games in the 2021-22 season shooting 51 percent from the floor. He also competes with the Finland National Team.
“It is a thrill to be able to bring in an efficient and skilled player like Olivier. He brings so many tangibles and experiences we know he will have an immediate impact for us. His strength, rebounding, hustle, back-to-basket game as well as outside shooting are just a few of his skillset that fans notice right away. We are very excited for him to get to Ann Arbor,” said Howard.
The third graduate transfer is Jackson from Seton Hall. The Detroit native started his collegiate career at Missouri where he played in 26 games averaging 2.9 points per game. He left Missouri for Seton Hall playing three seasons for the Pirates. He averaged 6.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game off the bench this past season. He has played in 90 games in four years with 488 points, 227 rebounds and made 55 three-pointers.
“Tray’s experiences, leadership and versatility makes him a very important addition for us,” said Howard. “We want him to continue to develop and grow his game, but we also need him to help his brothers and their games and skillsets. We just love his adaptability, which creates positive outcomes on both ends of the floor. He brings so much energy and has a great mind for the game.”
Michigan has now added seven graduate transfers to their roster in the past four years.
