On Tuesday, she announced the European engineering services provider Expleo USA will establish its first North American research and development facility in Michigan. According to a press release from Whitmer’s office, the project will generate more than $2 million in capital investment and create 196 jobs.

The Whitmer administration said Expleo still evaluating where it will set up shop in Michigan, and is looking at locations in Oakland County.

During the last six months, Whitmer appears to have taken an interest in giving taxpayer funds to foreign companies to make their homes in Michigan. The Chinese company Gotion plans to break ground on its EV battery plant in Big Rapids in August. In addition, the Ford Blue Oval plant in Marshall, a Megasite in Eagle Township, and a newly proposed site in Flint appear to be striking a negative cord with many residents.
