DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Detroit mustered only three hits as Seattle shutout the Tigers, 5-0, as they are now 17-21. Alex Faedo went six innings for his first loss but did record six strikeouts. Seattle’s rookie Bryce Miller received the win going seven innings for the win.

Tigers’ manager A.J. Hinch said after the game on Miller, “We didn’t do anything against him. It was hard. He had good stuff. I thought he changed his attack plan a little bit. But everything across the board was in the strike zone. He was efficient. He was dominant. We had a couple balls hit hard, but when you look up after six innings, 70 pitches, whatever it was, three hits, zero runs, he was very effective.”

Riley Greene, Javier Baez, and Spencer Torkelson all had one hit for the Tigers. Greene’s hit was a double in the fifth inning as the only chance for Detroit to score.

Torkelson said on Miller, “He had a good fastball. He was filling up the zone. He was getting ahead. But I really don’t think the box score is going to show how quality our at-bats were. We hit a lot of balls hard, right at guys.”

Detroit will finish the series with Seattle on Sunday.
