HOUGHTON, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A small town in the Upper Peninsula has made a big upgrade.
The town of Houghton built a $5 million pier that’s equipped to dock cruise ships.

Eleven ships are expected to make stops at Michigan ports, including Houghton. That would make it a record-breaking year.
The pier received $4 million from the Michigan Strategic Fund, with $1 million coming from city funds.
The economic impact of the cruise season on the Great Lakes is expected to be $180 million.
