SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Great Lakes Sports Commission is helping to upgrade the I-500 track in Sault Ste. Marie to a year-round facility with a $150,000 donation.

The I-500 snowmobile race and track brings several thousand people to Chippewa County’s Sault Ste. Marie each winter.
The Visitors and Conventions Bureau says the money will be used for upgrades to the electrical infrastructure for concerts and snowmobile pit crews and new roads. Plans are to have the upgrades ready before the 2025 race.
