GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The High-A affiliate for the Detroit Tigers, the West Michigan WhiteCaps, are 6-3 on the season and will host Dayton for six straight games this week from April 18-12. They started off the season 3-0 at home sweeping Fort Wayne allowing just three runs in the series. They then split their series with Lansing going 3-3 winning just one of the last three games.

They started the season at 6-1 which was the best start since 2018. Robert Campos, the number 14 prospect in the Tigers’ MLB pipeline, is hitting .276 and had his first home run last week vs. Lansing to go to 6-1. Ben Malgeri is leading the team in batting at .429 with seven RBI and three home runs. Izaac Pacheco, the round two pick from 2021 (39th overall), is batting .207 with four RBI and three home runs.

There are six pitchers that are 1-0 on the year as Tyler Mattison and Blake Holub had the best ERAs. Mattison is at 1.59 while Holub has a 1.69 ERA. Carlos Pena, who has pitched in 57 games a minor leaguer, leads the team with 11 strikeouts in 7.1 innings pitched.

They will be back home on Tuesday, April 18, for $1 days week. You can get in for $1 on Tuesday by bringing your community or church bulletin to the game. On Wednesday it is $1 for senior tickets and Thursday is $1 munchies night.
