DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Going out in style at the Final Four events in Houston, Detroit Mercy’s Antoine Davis won the 2023 Tax Act Men’s Three-Point Championship. The event took place on Thursday night on ESPN2 at the Bayou Music Center in downtown Houston.
Davis becomes the third Titan to win a title at the Final Four as Doug Anderson won the slam dunk contest in 2013 and women’s basketball player Brigid Mulroy took the three-point contest in 2009.

He hit 19 of 25 shots right from the start to post a 25 to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, he made 15 of 25 shots for 18 points to advance to the finals. In the final he took on Missouri standout D’Moi Hodge. Starting out slow, he picked up momentum late clearing the final rack for 18 points and an 18-16 victory. With the win, he earned a cash prize of $5,000.
For his career, he holds four NCAA records in total three-pointers made (588), three-pointers by a freshman (132), consecutive games in double figures (144), and total games in double figures (144). He is second all-time in scoring for the NCAA at 3,664 points and is sixth all-time in field goals (1,219).
He leaves UDM as a two-time Horizon League Player of the Year and a two-time honorable mention All-American.
