Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said, “There was no chance of a double play, I don’t think. We wanted to try and get the run at home, especially any sort of chopper like that, you’re going to react that way … tough play, he throws it on the other side of the plate, and their guy did a nice job getting off base.”

There were six scoreless innings before Baltimore scored first in the seventh inning. In the top of the ninth with two outs, Baez singled to left field as Akil Baddoo came in to tie the game. Holton started the bottom of the ninth inning and got the first out on a ground out. Foley came in to close it out but gave up a single to the first batter. The next batter singled to put runners on the corner as the Orioles earned the winning run on a fielder’s choice beating out the throw to home plate on a chopper.

The two teams will face off again on Saturday night.
