Dillon Reeves, a seventh grader, “saw the driver in distress, stepped to the front of the bus and helped bring it to a stop without incident,” Superintendent Robert Livernois said in a statement. The students were taken home on another bus.
“The actions of the student who helped stop the bus made all the difference today, and I could not be prouder of his efforts,” the superintendent said.
Someone decorated the Reeves’s family yard to thank Dillon for his quick thinking, including signs saying “HERO” and “SUPERSTAR.”
“The City of Warren is very proud of our 7th grade hero Dillon Reeves!” Warren Councilman Jonathan Lafferty wrote in a Facebook post.
The Warren Police Department is planning to present Reeves with an award for his bravery.
