HOUGHTON, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has a message for the people of the Upper Peninsula – watch out for scams.
With the destructive flooding occurring in Gogebic and Houghton Counties, Nessel’s office is reminding residents not to fall for disaster-related scams if floods have damaged their property.

Nessel’s office recommends not making rash decisions. Instead, she says residents should talk to their homeowner’s insurance agent or company, do their homework before hiring any repair person or company, get everything in writing, and never pay the full amount for repairs upfront.
