ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A week after having the top collegiate hockey player in the nation, Michigan adds the top gymnast in senior Sierra Brooks. Brooks was named the 2023 American Athletic Incorporated award winner on April 11. The AAI award is considered the Heisman Trophy for gymnasts given annually to the nation’s top senior. She becomes the fourth Michigan gymnast to win the award after Natalie Wojcik in 2022, Kylee Botterman in 2011, and Beth Wymer in 1995.
Brooks and Wojcik become just the third pair of teammates to win the award back-to-back after Alabama in 1985-86 and Georgia in 1998-99.
