DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Dylan Larkin recorded his second career hat trick as Detroit went to Canada for a 5-2 win over Toronto. Larkin now has 29 goals on the year as Detroit won their 34th game.
Olli Maatta gave Detroit a 1-0 lead in the first period just over a minute into the game (1:30) on an unassisted goal. Toronto tied the game at one at 7:33 but five minutes later Jonatan Berggren recorded his 14th goal of the year for a 2-1 lead (12:45). Larkin then scored his first of three goals just before the period ended at 19:21 on an assist from Maatta and Dominik Kubalik to make it 3-1.

After a scoreless second period, Toronto pulled to within one, 3-2, at 6:00 on a power play. Larkin then took over scoring at 10:16 for a 4-2 lead and then added the hat trick on an empty net at 17:48 for the 5-2 final.
Alex Nedeljkovic was in goal again and had 43 saves on 45 shots faced for the win.
Detroit heads to Montreal on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
