DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Two of the worst teams in the NBA battled on Friday night as Houston pulled out a 121-115 win over Detroit. Houston is 19-59 while Detroit falls to an NBA worst 16-61.

“You don’t want to get use to losing. I don’t care what the record is, Where we’re at and just staying home (for the playoffs). We don’t care about any of that. We just want to win,” said Marvin Bagley III.

Bagley III led the team with 21 points as Jaden Ivey gave 18 points and nine rebounds. Cory Joseph also added 17 points as Jalen Duren recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The game itself showed just how close these teams were at the bottom of the NBA as there were 14 ties and 23 lead changes in the game. It was the fourth quarter that became the difference as Houston took the lead for good on free throw at 4:59, 105-104. Kevin Porter, Jr., made the free throw after Detroit head coach Dwane Casey received a technical foul. It was the Rockets’ free throw shooting that helped in the end as they made 14-of-20 in the quarter.

Detroit had a one-point lead coming into the fourth quarter, 92-91, and both teams exchanged the lead throughout the quarter. With 3:06 left, Duren made one-of-two free throws to pull within two, 110-108. At the 2:37 mark, Ivey missed a shot that would have tied the game and Houston scored on the ensuing possession to go up four points, 112-108. Detroit couldn’t get the shots to keep up with Houston after that as they fell, 121-115.
